Remedy #57 There Will Be Blood (2007 Film)

"A story about family, greed, religion, and oil, centered around a turn-of-the-century prospector in the early days of the business."

Personally, There Will Be Blood is in my list of all time favorite movies. I'm a sucker for well written and acted character studies. However, how does it relate to social anxiety disorder, or even depression for that matter? Well, if you watch the film, it's easy to see how the film is all about human connection and how important it is. Directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, it stars Daniel Day-Lewis as Daniel Plainview, an oil prospector who for reasons not entirely clear, hates people. No social anxiety is shown in this character. Instead, he tolerates people. Except as the film progresses, he becomes increasingly distant to people and even his son. It's an isolation by his own doing. The how's and why's are the basis of this story and I wouldn't want to ruin it for people. A great clip is below. Watch the whole film HERE.
